For If We Fall, Who Shall Stand
Announcing A Long-extended Party, the fan-driven, community-based continuation of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game.
‘Yet, Master Peregrin, we have this honour: ever we bear the brunt of the chief hatred of the Dark Lord, for that hatred comes down out of the depths of time and over the deeps of the Sea. Here will the hammer-stroke fall hardest. And for that reason Mithrandir came hither in such haste. For if we fall, who shall stand? And, Master Peregrin, do you see any hope that we shall stand?’ - Beregond, The Return of The King, by J. R. R. Tolkien
What is A Long-extended Party?
A Long-extended Party (ALeP, for short) is the community’s unofficial answer to the impending hiatus of releases for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. It is a continuation of all the things we know and love about this game: the thrill of battle, the race against the shadow, the mystery and wonder of the world created by J. R. R. Tolkien.
Spearheaded by members of the community, the ALeP team is committed to extending the lifespan of the game by developing and releasing complete, playable cycles of fan-created content. From a team boasting professional game developers, copywriters, editors, and more, fans of the game will be able to continue enjoying the quality of game content they have come to expect. We will be creating dozens of unique, custom player cards designed to deliver on fan expectations for iconic characters, underserved archetypes, and bold new strategies. We will also be creating at least one complete cycle, including a deluxe expansion, six adventure packs, and an overarching narrative that delves into the history of a fan-favorite region of Middle-Earth.
In short: the game is not dead. It is alive and well, and the party shall go on a while longer.
Are you making money off this project?
No! The entire team behind ALeP consists of passionate volunteers, who have donated countless hours to crafting a game project which will aim to meet the high watermark set by Fantasy Flight Games. The quests and player cards will be distributed digitally for free. The content developed in service of A Long-extended Party is a non-commercial fan release, distributed without pay or profit, for the sole intent of private enjoyment by fans of the Lord of the Rings: the Card Game.
